They offered trade in US$, D800E $750 or my D750 $700. Forex statistics probability. So my considering the Sony A7R2 currently at $2,700, add my trade in value of just the "E" body plus Sony's $300 I could have it for $1,650.For no fuss, not bad but then there's the hook, lenses. I now went to KEH to see what they are selling D800E for, from $1,430 to $1,800 and e Bay mostly $900 and up.That gives the Sony deal a bit more realistic perspective. Also people should realize that they should research their camera's value, take off about 1/2 (or maybe 2/3) of the resale value, and that's what they can expect to get at one of these trade-in programs. My D750 goes for around $800-1000 used probably, so I'd probably only see maybe $500-700 trade in value. I'll keep it OR sell it privately and get probably $1000 or so....@sirhawkeye64 - "My D750 goes for around $800-1000 used probably, so I'd probably only see maybe $500-700 trade in value"wrong, you'd get about $1200 for it, if you traded it in on an a9, because sony effectively knocks $500 off of the retail price of the a9, plus whatever the value of the trade-in is... I just checked B&H and Adorama and KEH, and they all come back around $700-1000 used, depending on use and condition for trade in.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha A ahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaha Wait they said ......... Now GFY little bugger Derp derp, not too bright are we? look it up on b&h.people have explained how this works about a hundred times in these threads, lol... My $800-1000 was also assuming selling directly to someone rather than trading in, and yes, that range is a bit low from what I saw online for used D750's, but not far off.Canon 6D II, Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 5Ds, Canon 5Ds R, Canon 5D Mark IV, Canon 1D Mark IV, Canon 1DX, Canon 1DX II, Nikon D600, Nikon D610, Nikon D800, Nikon D800E, Nikon D810, Nikon D810A, Nikon D750, Nikon D3, Nikon D3s, Nikon D4, Nikon D4s, for $500Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah Listen you little genius, asking $500 for a top dslr is “The Setup” of the joke, now giving extra $500 discount for an already overpriced camera is “The Punch”..... NOBODY is saying ANY particular price for ANY of those poxy cameras. Because GET THIS, those cameras are worth different amounts of money! You'd be lucky to get a steaming pile of turd, but that's just about all dipsh! My point is that for most, it's not worth it to trade in using the Sony program. So one camera might get $3500 $500 bonus, another might get $1000 $500 bonus. If you really want to get the a9, sell your gear privately and then go out and buy one. Xm trading minimum deposit. It might be a wash in the end, but then again, maybe not. I don't care so much about the bodies, as they are on par with the Nikon and Canon offerings. It's just I feel (right now) Sony's lens line up is not as mature and extensive as Nikon and Canons, plus there is third party support too, which just isn't there yet in my opinion.@sirhawkeye64 - "The $800-1000 I was referring to, also, was what I would get for the camera (not taking into account any additional "credit")"fine, throw away the $200-$400 bonus difference you'd get from sony, LMAO.. "OK so $800-1000 was a bit low, but $1200 is about what you'd expect to pay to get a used one"fine, go hassle with selling it on craigslist for the same $1200 savings that you'd get from trading it at b&h, for an a9, lol...If you guys want to trade in your gear for an a9, be my guest.
It's not worth it to me, even if I was going to buy an a9.Sony doesn't do this to be nice, they do it to move and sell product and boost market share. That "bonus" you're getting may not really end up being much of a bonus in the end. @osv - yes, I'd be "throwing away" the $200-400 bonus, but if they decide that my camera is only worth maybe $500-600, that's not a real smart trade in either...If they were to give me the full $1200 (and I actually wanted to buy an a9) that would be different, but I'm sure that people will get less than market value for their gear in the end (not factoring in the extra $200-400 towards the a9 purchase). They'll probably use the lowest or an averaged market value for appraisal.
I doubt you'd get the high end trade in value, even if the gear was damn near flawless. Yeah, the $200-400 BONUS is great, but what I really want to know is what is the difference between my trade the bonus, and the new camera. The extra "bonus cash" or discount from the a9 is irrelevant, unless you look at the entire transaction as a whole.sirhawkeye64 - "if they decide that my camera is only worth maybe $500-600, that's not a real smart trade in either"if it's junk, of course you won't get the "signs of use, but clean" $695 value for it, and you won't get the $500 bonus either...Don't postulate stupid fud problem is that you STILL don't understand how the trade-in works, i guess that it's a dslr thing... Pretty sad."The extra "bonus cash" or discount from the a9 is irrelevant, unless you look at the entire transaction as a whole."your problem is that you are NOT looking at it as a whole, you stupidly keep trying to separate trade-in value from the bonus. It's just that you have to figure they (whomever you trade the lens into) still has to sell it and make a profit, while keeping the total price around $160, which is about what you'd expect to pay for a used 50mm Nikon G-version lens. Sony will probably re-sell them in bulk to resellers (like B&H and Adorama, etc) so they will need to factor in resale value into what they give you for a trade-in.I was stating that if they deemed it below market trade-in, it wouldn't be a smart move. I mean, go trade in a gently used 50mm Nikon lens, for example, that still sells for $220 or so new. After looking through many of the other comments, I'm starting to see that you're a Sony fan boy as it seems, and that's fine.Just because a company gives you a low trade in value doesn't necessarily mean it's junk. And as to your last comment, did you read my last comment before you made yours?
